Chamber News Update

As we head into summer, the Chamber has been busy planning events and working to make our community stronger. Here are just a few of the highlights!

The Chamber jumped to answer when Fort Stockton Historical Society Director Ross Harper put out a community-wide call for assistance with providing fans to all of the residents at Focused Care Fort Stockton. One of the programs of the Chamber is the annual Joy Run, where a silent auction is held to raise funds to purchase Christmas gifts for all of the residents as well as other items needed. Chamber Director Arna McCorkle, along with some of the Chamber Ambassadors and Board of Directors, headed to Walmart and loaded up 40 fans. Leadership Fort Stockton alumnus Jeff Williams happened to be shopping, and after finding out what the Chamber was doing, paid for all of the fans.

On Saturday, May 25, Chamber Board, Ambassador, and Leadership Fort Stockton members placed flags on the veterans’ graves at East Hill Cemetary. Afterward, Chamber Board of Directors member (and Leadership alumna) Caitlyn Bennet and her family removed all the flags.

The Leadership Fort Stockton class of 2023-2024 held a graduation party on June 2 to celebrate the successful completion of the program. Program graduates are active and engaged in the community, continuing their leadership long after the end of their class year. This year’s graduates are John Urias, Kelly Burns, Keith Weyerts, and David Gonzalez (not pictured). Leadership is currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 year. There will even be a live music dance with The Stateline Band, sponsored by the Convention & Visitors Bureau, and fireworks by the City of Fort Stockton.
