James Rooney Memorial Park
The Chamber is back to organizing the annual Independence Day at Rooney Park this year after passing it to the Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2019! This year’s activities include a car show organized by Leadership Fort Stockton, a walking parade in the park, and, of course, all of the eating contests will be back! There will even be a live music dance with The Stateline Band, sponsored by the Convention & Visitors Bureau, and fireworks by the City of Fort Stockton
Schedule of Events
Wednesday, July 3 8 pm to Midnight
- 8 pm – Midnight – LIVE Music and Dance with The Stateline Band sponsored by the Fort Stockton Convention & Visitor’s Bureau
- City of Fort Stockton Fireworks Display (start time TBA)
Thursday, July 4 11 am to 6 pm Vendors, Activities, & DJ
- 11 am 4 pm – Leadership Fort Stockton Car Show
- 11:15 am – Walking Parade
- No sign up required! Dress in your most patriotic attire
- Pets, wagons, and bicycles welcome!
- Begins at park entrance on Spring Drive
- Pets must be leashed, NO motorized vehicles
- 11:45 am – Hot Dog Eating Contest (Pit #4) Fort Stockton Rotary Club
- 1 pm – Ice Cream Eating Contest (Pit #4)
- 2 pm – Watermelon Eating Contest (Pit #4) Fort Stockton Lions Club
VENDORS: There will be a dedicated area for vendors, but space is NOT reserved. It’s first come, first served! Vendors are welcome to set up Wednesday afternoon through Thursday night. Registration for vendor space is not required. Ensure you have any required permits from the City of Fort Stockton.
Other groups and organizations are planning additional activities throughout the park. We will update you with details when they are finalized.
